He said, "If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me" (John 12:32). When people met the first disciples they knew they had been with Jesus (Acts 4:13). "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). The greatest testimony for Jesus is a changed life. Lastly, we will reach others with our lifestyle. We are not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation to every man that believes Romans 1:16. I am praying for a boldness that will overcome any hesitation or reluctance to mention the name of Jesus and His saving ability to anyone with whom we may come into contact. Secondly, we will reach the city with our lips. You are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses its savor how can it give seasoning? You are the light of the world. GOD, SET US ABLAZE again as it pertains to our assignments! We can't inspire others if we slothful, lazy or sluggish. I am asking God in 2017 to give each of us a renewed enthusiasm and passion for His Work, His Will, and His Causes. In 2017, we will endeavor to reach our city in three ways.

Into the present, the church has expanded from solely a place of worship to include the Word Center for religious education services, and the Wellness center, which includes a spa, and also Café Eden, providing healthy dining options.Please note these worship services are subject to change due to holidays or special event celebrations. The church grew rapidly under Reverend Thomas’ tenure, from “250 to over 3,0000” members, which called for a larger campus under his ‘Vision 2000’ program, and turned the church into the state-of-the-art, 2,500 seat auditorium that it is today ().
1984, when Reverend Alexis Thomas became senior pastor of the church at age sixteen. One of the historic moments for Pilgrim Rest, though, and the moment marking its modern era, was on November 16. The church fared better in the decades that followed Reverend Stevenson’s appointment, and included acting as host for the 101 st National Baptist Convention of America in 1981. Tumultuous leadership defined the following few decades, but under better direction, the church was again relocated in 1968, this time to its current address. Boyd - sited the original church in Somerton, AZ outside of Yuma, but by 1930, it had relocated to 1417 East Madison Street in central Phoenix. Pilgrim Rest is in its 89 th year, yet it looks nothing today like it did when it was founded.
